Worthy Women's President and CFO, Chris & Leviena Smit celebrated

Steve Biko Hospital’s 19th cochlear implant “switch-on” on Monday, 17 October 2016

together with Miss Deaf World 2016, Janie Erasmus.

 

This extraordinary event took place at the Steve Biko Academic Hospital, ENT level 6 at 14h00.  Miss Deaf World 2016, Janie Erasmus is also the ambassador for the Beautiful Noise Cochlear Implant Program.

 

She supported the (cochlear implant) cause in November 2015 by attending the Steve Biko Golf day - and subsequently this relationship has been very prosperous and successful.

 

4 year old Toané Tucker became deaf at the age of 18 months and was registered as a patient at the Steve Biko Hospital about 2years ago. The Steve Biko ENT facilitated the implant and Jacaranda Good Morning Angels donated funds for the implant and Janie Erasmus donated her Cochlear CP810 speech processor to who received her cochlear implant on 23 August 2016!

 

                                                                           During our “Celebrate Love”- Function held at Forever Hotel Centurion,

                                                                         Miss Deaf South Africa 2015, Janie Erasmus donated the first cochlear processor

                                                                         from the Decibel Cochlear Campaign to Steve Biko Academic Hospital and it was

                                                                            handed over to the hospital’s Audiology Department, Ms Coleen Maritz.
